In collaboration with Wood WORKS! BC, CAWP is pleased to offer the following seminar for structural engineers at our facility on the UBC Point Grey campus:
Who should attend? Engineers who wish to become familiar with Mass Timber Systems, specifically Mass Timber Panels (NLT, CLT, GLT and others) and Timber-Concrete-Composites that are currently not covered by CSA 086. Participants will be exposed to these new Timber Systems, see how they work, delve into their mechanics, gain confidence in both the wood products used to make up these systems and their ability to design these systems.
What will you learn? At the end of this workshop the participants will be able to:
- Identify basic components of Mass Timber and Timber–Concrete-Composites;
- Understand the overall properties, advantages and applications of these systems;
- Identify the structural performance and failure mechanisms of these systems;
- Follow basic design procedures for strength, stiffness, vibration, and creep.
